In 1886, the area of land now known as Lakeside, was bought by the El Cajon Land Company. Lakeside earned its name due to its proximity to El Capitan Lake, San Vicente Lake and Lindo Lake.

This rodeo arena is home to the Annual Lakeside Rodeo as well as concerts throughout the year. The US Navy maintains 2 sets of Lakeside Homes which are occupied exclusively by US Navy personnel. In addition, the Barona Resort Hotel and Casino is located within the city limits. This Casino, Golf Course, and Hotel are one of San Diego’s most popular attractions.
